IT boom in Karnataka Postal Circle

Bengaluru, July 17, 2015 

There is a lot of thrust on the IT modernisation project in the Karnataka Postal Circle of India Post. 

With Core Banking Solutions (CBS), Core Insurance Solutions (CIS), and the Core System Integrator, the department is hoping to create strong IT infrastructure and applications for all its services. 

B.V. Sudhakar, Chief Postmaster General, Karnataka Postal Circle, said that in the State, 58 head post offices and 320 sub post offices had been covered under CBS. By the end of this fiscal, 1,714 department post offices will be covered as well. The department is also hoping to open 59 ATMs, which will help 80 lakh savings account holders. Already, 17 ATMs have been opened in the State. 

About CIS, he said the department is in the process of integrating and networking 810 central processing centres, for which special software has been developed. “Once integrated, citizens can access their insurance policies, apply for policies and make payments online. So far, the software has been uploaded in 1,712 post offices in the State,” he said, adding that this would benefit seven lakh postal life insurance and 16 lakh rural postal life insurance policy holders. 

Revenue increase

 

The department, Mr. Sudhakar said, was focussing on e-commerce platforms as well. Over the past two years, the average revenue growth has been Rs. 100 crore a year. The business turnover for postal life insurance has also registered an average growth of Rs. 50 crore a year, while it is Rs. 20 crore a year for the rural postal life insurance. “This is the impact of technology. In about two years, we hope to remove the current deficit of Rs. 262 crore,” he said.

Pattern of Exam Paper 2 :

2nd Paper will be based only computer and sure typing test will probably be conduct as well as time will probably be given for the test only 30 minutes in that 30 minutes typing test will done in quarter-hour along with 15 minutes will probably be given for data admittance.

Candidates need to type passage with 450 words and in Hindi 375 words and finish it with minimum 30 words per minute or 25 words per minute.

SRI MOHD MAZHAR ALI DIVISIONAL SECRETARY GULBARGA WIN THE CASE AT CAT

Sri Mohd Mazhar Ali former Divisional Secretary NAPE Group "C" Gulbarga Division while working as DIVISIONAL SECRETARY and addressed a letter to CPMG as well as PMG N.K.Region on 30/05/2012 requsting for suspending Sri D.Kalyan Rao SSPo"s for mismanagement and misapprapation Govt money on the basis of this letter the SSPo's Gulbarga issued a Rule 16 charge sheet and he was punished by reduction of pay by one stage from 14900/- to 14340/-Wef;1/11/2012.

Sri Mohd Mazhar Ali appealed against this punishment to DPS N.K.Region who rejceted his appeal. then he approched the CAT Bangalore Branch for relief. the Hoble court set aside the orders

Add New KVP (KVN) Product to Agent in DOP Finacle

Many offices are migrated in Finacle before continuation of New KVP scheme. At the time of issuing KVP new in finacle, we face error related to invalid product code. To solve this type of error we have to modify the existing agent and add KVN product to Agent.

HDSAMM command stands DSA Master Maintenance. It is used both add new agent and modify existing Agent. Please follow the below step to completion of modification of Agent. 

Menu Shortcut - HDSAMM > GO Function - M - Modify DSA ID - Fill required DSA ID GO

Hence the new Product has been add to particular Agent. Now you can issue KVN in this DSA ID.

STANDING INSTRUCTION IN DOP FINACLE

Standing instruction in DOP Finacle can be given from SB account to RD account by using the menu 
                                                    HSSIM

• HSSIM stands for Standing Instruction Maintenance.

Note that for giving the standing instructions from TDA accounts(SCSS,MIS and TD) accounts to SB accounts we should not use this menu.

1. For giving the standing instructions for TDA accounts(SCSS,MIS and TD) accounts we have to go for account modification menu and enter the interest credit account as SB account number of the customer and submit and verify in the supervisor.
2. For giving the standing instruction from SB to RD invoke the menu HSSIM and select the function as "ADD" then click on Go as shown

Then the system will ask to enter the following in the header details

1. Select the Standing Instruction Type as "customer induced"
2. Enter the CIF Id of the customer in the field CIF ID.
3. Select the Standing Instruction Frequency as Monthly,date and Previous day as shown
4. Select the field execution time as "B-after change of Date"
5. Enter the filed Next execution date as "give the next execution date" as shown in the figure

Then click on instruction details then the system will ask to enter the following

DEBIT ENTRY

1. Select the CCY filed as "INR"(Indian Rupee)
2. Enter the account id of the customer "SB account number of the customer"
3. Select the amt type field as "Fixed"
4. Select Debit/Credit field as "Debit"
5. Enter the amount field "as amount of RD amount" as shown

Then click on Add as shown then the system will ask to enter the following

CREDIT ENTRY

1. Select the CCY filed as "INR"(Indian Rupee)
2. Enter the account id of the customer "RD account number of the customer"
3. Select the amt type field as "Fixed"
4. Select Debit/Credit field as "Credit"
5. Enter the amount field "as amount of RD amount" as shown

Then finally click on submit then the system will generate the standing instruction number as shown

Then note down the instruction number and verify the same in the supervisor.

Mangaluru gets its first postal ATM

SECOND TO COME UP IN KULASHEKAR POST OFFICE, AND THIRD IN PUTTUR SOON

The postal department (India Post) on Friday opened its first ATM in the city at Hampankatta Head Post Office. Another ATM is expected to be opened at the Kulashekar Post Office here in the next few months. A third ATM will come up shortly at the Puttur Head Post Office.

These ATMs are part of the core banking solutions being put in place at the post offices. As many as 17 post offices in Mangaluru Division and 14 in Puttur division have so far migrated to Core Banking Solutions (CBS). Savings bank account holders in the CBS post offices in these two divisions and the other CBS post offices in the country can make use this ATM.

Postmaster General (South Karnataka Region) Shirtady Rajendra Kumar said these ATMs were being set up in Head Post Offices and other urban centres where the volume of transactions was more. RuPay Post Office ATM cards will be issued to saving bank account holders with a minimum balance of Rs. 500.

This ATM card can be used only at Post Office ATM but not in ATMs of other banks. Similarly ATM cards of other banks cannot be used at the Post Office ATM. “We are yet to get necessary permission,” Mr. Kumar said.

He said initially ATM cards were given to serving and retired employees. Process has begun to issue these ATM cards to saving bank account holders who apply for this facility. There are around 1.70 lakh savings bank account holders in Mangaluru Division, of which 70,000 persons hold accounts in post offices that have migrated to core banking solutions, he said.

Among the 17 post offices that have migrated to CBS are the offices in Kankanady, in the District Court complex, Mary Hill, Surathkal and Mulky Bazar.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel inaugurated the new ATM at Hampankatta, which was the sixth Post Office ATM to be opened in the State. Mr. Kateel said opening of the ATM was a step towards taking services of India Post to the public. Retired Senior Superintendent of Post Office S. Gopal was the first to transact from his pension account using the ATM card.
